About This Project

The site development was coordinated through the Center for the Study and Improvement of Regulation at Carnegie Mellon University. CSIR is based in the Department of Engineering & Public Policy, and CSIR research focuses on the use of science and risk information to support and evaluate regulatory decision making. In cooperation with the Information Systems Program, CSIR is developing a number of interactive tools in areas traffic safety, mortality risk, vehicle technology, and hospital admissions.

Paul S. Fischbeck, Ph.D., is a Professor of Engineering and Public Policy and of Social and Decision Sciences and the Director of CSIR at Carnegie Mellon University. He has extensive experience as a risk analyst studying complex engineered systems in general (space shuttle and off-shore oil platforms) and transportation systems specifically (school transportation).

David Gerard, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Economics at Lawrence University and erstwhile executive director of CSIR. His expertise is in regulatory economics and policy, focusing on environmental and safety risks and technology policy.

Carnegie Mellon University Student Team: An Information Systems Program student research team consisting of Anthony Buchanan, Hyun Lim, Grace Lee and Kevin Purtell were responsible for the design and development of the application. Immanuel Alam provided technical support with software installation and server upgrades.

Jeria Quesenberry, Ph.D., is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University. Her professional experiences include software application analysis and design, and project management.

Barbara Gengler is a consultant in the area of Business Intelligence. She is the principal of Multidimensionality, providing solutions for data analysis and reporting using Business Intelligence technologies.
